Ozbrecht 2019 - Iceland & The Baltics
Eidfjord, Norway
August 17

Approaching Eidfjord, at the end of Hardangerfjord, one of Norway's longest fjords

Eidfjord

The docking maneuver was masterful. We didn't feel the ship hit the dock (video)

Our excursion began on a bus to a train to the beautiful little town of Flåm

A roundabout inside a tunnel!

Skjervsfossen Waterfall

Although Andy & Sheila were unware of it - it's raining. And it will get worse

The village of Voss, where we moved from bus to passenger train

We were very fortunate with the weather - this was the worst weather day of our entire trip

Waterfalls everywhere

Kjosfossen Waterfall

Meet Huldra, enchanting Scandinavian forest creature (video on right)
Here we left the passenger train, and hopped on The Flåm Railway

Views from the train entering the Flåm Valley and Flam, a small village on the Aurlandsfjord

We only stayed in Flåm long enough to transfer to bus transportation back to the ship. For Flåm it was certainly more about the journey than the destination. It is a small village, and as you can see, a cruise ship destination, so likely very crowded

Our first stop on the return trip - the charming Stalheim Hotel, for lunch

The view out the back of the hotel.
Here's how it looked in nice weather. We didn't see this

Tvinde Waterfall. It was absolutely pouring. The four of us and maybe 3 or 4 others got out of the bus for the short hike to this view spot. We were soaked, but it was beautiful!

No more stops - we headed back to Eidfjord

However, the sky began to open up, so there were many beautiful views from our bus window

Eidfjord, and our ship, come into view

A little walkabout a very small town. Its population is less than 1,000
