Interstate 15 in Arizona is a mere 29 miles long, running through the Virgin River Gorge. Before the freeway was carved through the gorge in the 1960s (at about $10 million per mile), the windy, mountainous drive from Las Vegas to St. George was 90-120 minutes longer
