Maui - 2019
Yorba Linda, CA to
Maui, Hawaii
Day 1 - December 25

On our way!
Day 1 - December 25
Yorba Linda, CA to Kahului, Maui, Hawai'i
Kathy, Hillary and I left Los Angeles Airport on a 2pm flight, landing at Kahului Airport on Maui about 6pm. We had tried to rent a van, but none were avaiable. The next best thing was a pickup - we rented a Toyata Tacoma. Sure hope it doesn't rain on Hillary's wheelchair!
We met Jordan at the Maui Beach Hotel in Kahului, where we would make our stay. After a couple of hours of hanging out, Jordan returned the the Hanzawa's house, where he is staying. Let the fun begin!
Maui, Hawaii
Day 2 - December 26

View out of our hotel window. Heidi's comment when told this is where we are staying: "That place was old when I was a kid!" But they had recently remodeled - it wasn't bad at all!

SixtyTwo MarcKet in downtown Wailuku for breakfast

Hillary's beach chair, which Jordan rented for her.

Kaanapali. There is a boardwalk which runs all the way to Lahaina. We will take about 3 miles of it

Kaanapali Beach

Shave Ice at Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice in Lahaina. Choose from many flavors; you can get 3 on an order. So refreshing!
The beach chair and Hillary's manual wheelchair barely squeezed into the pickup bed. Whew!

At Peter & Debbie's condo in Kihei for "Wedding-Eve" dinner
Jordan & Heidi - tomorrow's the big day!

Day 2 - December 26
Wailuku, Kaanapali, Lahaina & Kihei, Maui
Wedding Day Eve
A beautiful, sunny day!
Kathy, Hillary and I drove to the Hanzawa's house in Wailuku (about 10 minutes from our hotel) to pick up Jordan. The 4 of us would spend the day together. We met Heidi's parents, Howard and Alma. They are the nicest people! Heidi's brother Ryan was there as well - Kathy and I had met him before.
The 4 of us started our day with breakfast at a brand new restaurant in downtown Wailuku call SixtyTwo MarcKet. Wonderful!
Next, we head to Kaanapali, the most popular resort area of Maui. Jordan had rented Hillary a beach buggy, and we walked about 3 miles of the boardwalk that runs along the beach from Kaanapali to Lahaina. Afterward, we drove to Lahaina to Ululani's Shave Ice - love shave ice!
In the evening, we went to Kihei, which is a 30-minute drive across Maui's saddle from Kahului & Wailuku. Heidi's aunt Debbie and her husband Peter live in Tampa, Florida, but rent a condo on Maui every Christmastime. Peter & Debbie made the best wedding-day eve dinner! We got to knowmet all of Heidi's family - they are so easy to become good friends with!
