Putting in the wind

As we left Tallinn, we noticed this boat catching up fast to us, then pulling very close to us. What was he doing? He then pulled up right next to our ship, a small door on our ship opened, and a man stepped out the door onto this small boat. Evidently he was on board to pilot us out of the channel into open sea.
